What is an Education Foundation?
An Education Foundation is a privately operated, nonprofit organization created to receive, manage and distribute funds to support and enhance local public school education. An Education Foundation promotes quality education and serves as a partner with a school district to solicit, manage and distribute supplemental funds for academic programs and projects which are not within the District’s budget and/or for which tax dollars cannot be expended.

What are the benefits of the Education Foundation?
The Foundation provides opportunities for student access and exposure to enhanced instructional activities and experiences, and serves as a catalyst to maximize resources that promote excellence in education.

How is the Foundation funded?
Foundation Programs and activities are funded solely through donations from individuals and corporations, fundraising events, and income earned on investment capital. Contributions are tax-deductible and do not alter the use of tax-based revenue.

Is the Foundation a function of the Joshua Independent School District?
The Joshua ISD Education Foundation is an independent, nonprofit corporation governed by its own Board of Directors, comprised of a cross-section of community volunteers. Foundation Programs support the District's Mission and align with the District's Strategic Plan. The Superintendent and President of the Board of Trustees of Joshua ISD serve as ex-officio members.

Who makes the decision on how funds are allocated?
Members of the Board of Directors of the Joshua ISD Education Foundation determine how funds are allocated and awarded. A designated Selection Committee reviews Foundation Grant Applications and makes funding recommendations to the Board. Grant applications are due the Friday before Spring Break, and grant funds are awarded annually in the spring to be utilized the following school year.

How can I help?
Joshua ISD staff members may contribute via Payroll Deduction or make an annual donation during our Employee Contribution Campaign. Staff, parents, and community members are invited to participate in our Columbus Day Golf Tournament by playing, donating merchandise for raffle or auction, and/or serving as tourney sponsors. Elementary parents are encouraged to support our Foundation FUN(d) Days through their child(ren)’s participation, sponsoring other students in addition to their own, and/or volunteering to help at their campus FUN(d) Day event. Monetary donations are welcome at any time; please visit our Give page.
